3. Normal joint motion and function serves as sensory input to the body and movement and pressure senory fibers share communication pathways with pain sensors. This is why you naturally rub a sore spot – it actually provides some pain relief. When your lose mobility or become unable to engage in physical activity, the pain sensations exist without normal pathway competition for perception. Left alone, your body begins to “learn to hurt” and over time this can lead to chronic pain syndromes. Getting adjusted helps to relieve pain and can prevent or reduce chronic pain as well.
